Ahti Martikainen appointed Vapo’s Director of Communications and Public Affairs
Ahti Martikainen has been appointed Director, Communications and Public Affairs of Vapo as from 1 June 2011. He will also become a member of the Vapo’s management board. He will report on his areas of responsibility to Vapo’s CEO Tomi Yli-Kyyny. He will be stationed at Vapo’s office in Äyritie, Vantaa.
Ahti Martikainen will move to Vapo from his post as Vice President of Communications at TeliaSonera Finland. Before his present position, he was Communications Director of TeliaSonera Group Business Services. Before joining TeliaSonera in 2006, he was responsible for the communications of AlmaMedia and its predecessor Aamulehti-yhtymä, as well as Kansallis-Osake-Pankki.
“Ahti Martikainen is highly esteemed in his field, and I believe his long and extensive experience in Finnish and international corporate communications, will help Vapo continue its efforts to become one of the key players in the development of renewable energy solutions not only in Finland but also in the Baltic States and in Scandinavia”, Vapo’s CEO Yli-Kyyny states.
“I look forward to the opportunity to participate in the development of Vapo and to share the new Vapo story with customers, media and decision-makers. Telling this story is made easier by the fact that its cornerstones are highly topical. Vapo’s role as a producer of renewable energy, developer of new energy solutions, and significant direct and indirect job provider is still a big secret to a large number of Finns. Vapo is a considerably greener and more responsible company than its reputation, but its development goals have been set at a clearly higher level than before also in these areas”, Ahti Martikainen states.
Reijo Vatanen will continue in Vapo with responsibilities in communications and he reports to Ahti Martikainen
