Neova received building permits for its first solar power projects in Lappajärvi and Heinola

Neova has received building permits for its first two solar power projects. Solar power plants are to be built in Lappajärvi and Heinola. Vapo Terra Oy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Neova Oy, and the Swedish company Rabbalshede Kraft AB have signed a cooperation agreement in November 2024 based on which Rabbalshede Kraft will take a 50% stake in nine projects of Vapo Terra’s current renewable energy production project portfolio. In the agreement for joint development of the projects, Vapo Terra’s role is to develop the projects until fully permitted and ready for construction, after which Rabbalshede Kraft will further develop and bring the projects to final investment decision. The Lappajärvi and Heinola sites were included in this published contract.

Neova will continue to develop these two projects together with Rabbalshede Kraft. The projects will significantly promote the production of renewable energy and, once completed, will correspond to about 5% of the current solar power capacity in Finland.

The Lappajärvi Lamminneva solar power plant was granted a construction permit for a 60 MW solar power plant with a construction permit area of approximately 125 hectares and the Heinola Laviassuo 5 MW solar power plant’s permit area is eight hectares. Once completed, the projects will produce electricity annually for the needs of a total of about 3,800 electrically heated detached houses. These projects are located in old peat production areas and represent a step towards sustainable energy production.

Neova prepares the permit matters for the Lamminneva and Laviassuo solar power projects, as well as land use planning, ready for construction, after which Rabbalshede Kraft makes the final investment decision. Rabbalshede Kraft is also responsible for the construction of projects and the production of electricity in the role of the owner of the solar park. Neova participates in the development of the projects and its role is to participate in the final solar power plants in the role of a land lessor.
