Nevel builds on long-term local cooperation with the acquisition of Taebla and Palivere district heating networks in Estonia
The acquired networks are located in Taebla and Palivere in West Estonia. Together the two networks deliver 7,200 MWh of energy to customers over a combined pipeline with the length of 3,865 m. Nevel already has an existing Uuemõisa district heating network which is also located in West Estonia.
The deal follows more than ten years of close cooperation, with Nevel renting the boiler houses and producing the necessary heat for Taebla and Palivere district heating networks. Following the acquisition, Nevel will continue investing in infrastructure to ensure high reliability and service quality while meeting all relevant environmental standards. Over the next five years, around one million Euros will be invested in Taebla network and boiler house. The objective is to increase renewable energy production to 50% by end of 2021 and to comply with the strict environmental standards.
“We have been working with Nevel for many years and have been impressed with their expertise in delivering dependable and innovative district heating solutions. The sale of district heating pipelines to Nevel marks a continuation of our strong, ongoing relationship and allows us to direct funds to other essential activities,” says Anneli Kollom, the head of Lääne-Nigula Varahaldus.
“The acquisition of district heating networks fits perfectly with our growth strategy of focusing on industrial and municipal infrastructure solutions. We are planning to make substantial investments in the networks, using a greater share of local, renewable fuel sources to ensure a reliable, sustainable future-proof supply. As a partner of the municipality we will ensure customers continue to enjoy competitive, uninterrupted service with new digital services rolled out in future, such as hourly readings via remote smart metering, enabling better visibility of energy consumption,” says Ülo Stokkeby, Head of Production, Municipal Infrastructure, Nevel.
