Energy peat is a Finnish and locally produced fuel that replaces imported fuels such as coal and oil. Energy peat plays an important role in securing Finland’s energy supply.

We supply milled and sod peat to power and heating plants, industry, and municipal heating plants across Finland. We deliver sod peat to smaller properties and heating centers, such as greenhouses and farms.

Peat is often used as a co-fuel with wood. Together, they burn cleaner. Additionally, the combined use of peat and wood extends the lifespan of power plant boilers, as peat prevents the corrosive effects of wood on boilers, and wood fuel binds the sulfur in peat.

Peat production employs local entrepreneurs, especially in sparsely populated areas, in production, loading, and transportation.

Sustainable peat production

We produce peat sustainably. We use the best available water treatment technology (BAT) in our production areas. We produce peat only on areas that have already been altered from their natural state, primarily forest-drained peatlands, and we take care of the after-use of areas that have been removed from production.
